The Treasure of the Cross

I saw this on Facebook recently and shared it as my status for awhile. Its message is definitely a treasure to me so I thought I’d share it with all of you too.

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” —Luke 9:23-24

  1. I Love this. People sometimes don’t like those who put Christ first in their lives. What a great way to say it.

  2. PS to my comment. We are currently studying John and in my homework yesterday, I could not help but notice just how much His dying for us means, in yet a new way. In chapter 8 Jesus has another big clash with the religious leaders, they try to kill him but it was not His time to die yet so He slipped away from them. As you know chapter divisions weren’t there when written but put there by man (a good thing so we can find things), but sometimes these chapter divisions cause us to refocus our thinking, like books of today. If you read chapter 8 and begin chapter 9 like the division was not there, you realize Jesus stopped to heal the blind from birth man when He was escaping from those who wanted to kill Him!! Not only that it provoked them all the more. When you read these things all through the gospels, but many in John, it become all the more clear Jesus gave so much for us. It is so humbling to think He would value me so much, when I personally know I am not worth it.

    • Better late than never in responding to you, Donna. Let’s just say it’s been an interesting week. Anyway, I want to thank you for the care and time you took to share this with us. There is a reason that I consider you my mentor, and you’ve just reminded me of it again. Thank you, my forever friend!

  3. I’m so glad WP offered this post to visit! That is an awesome statement, friend. He gave His all… why would we want to give any less? Thank You for sharing this, and visiting CB’s, and being a faithful child of the King. God bless.
