I am choosing to interrupt my Wonderful Wednesdays this week in honor of today’s special holiday.
Independence Day, also referred to as simply July 4th, is a now a federal holiday here in the United States. On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted and signed, declaring our independence from Great Britain.
Today is typically celebrated with fireworks, picnics, barbecues and family get-togethers which commemorate probably the most important day in our country’s history. As a nation, the United States of America is very blessed because of the sacrifice of all those who fought to procure our freedom. Here is my simple patriotic collage as an homage to mark this day.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! —Psalm 33:11-12
Let us never forget how blessed we are as a nation … under God … whose freedom was bought at a great price.
