Thankful for My Church Family

Ps100-1-5-Fall

Rick and I are part of a wonderful church family. There are many weeks that I am unable to attend worship services but I know without a doubt that many of my church family pray for me on a consistent basis. When I walk into church after not having been there for several weeks, it feels as if I haven’t been gone at all. I am so blessed by all those who seek me out for a hug and ask how I’ve been. I truly appreciate their love and prayers!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:24-25

Thankful for the Written Word

I love to read. I used to get in trouble for this on a regular basis while I was growing up. I almost always had a book with me. I read at the table during meals—well, at least I tried to until Mom confiscated my book—and read in bed at night until Mom made me turn out the light. I regularly got lost in the stories so it was hard to but a book down and go to sleep. I wanted to see what happened next!

As I got older I loved reading big, thick books. And no, I didn’t read the last few pages first. I wanted to be surprised! Now I’m at the point where my mind doesn’t work as well as it used to, so those thick books would take too long to read.

The photos above are of my trusty old NAS Bible. To me, the Bible is God’s ultimate gift of the written Word. This Bible was given to me years ago for my birthday by a close friend. As you can see, it is filled with my scribbles and highlights, sticky notes and bookmarks. I’ve tried to use other Bibles over the years but keep coming back to this one, where I add even more notes and stickies.

I used to be a regular at the library and couldn’t imagine reading anything but a “real” book. There was just something about turning those pages that made me think I could never like an e-reader. However, a few years ago I changed my mind and Rick gifted me with an e-reader. Now I have hundreds of books in one place. It’s like having my very own library!

…..

I am thankful today and everyday for being able to read the Bible and the myriad of other books available to us. How about you, Beloved?

Thankful for God’s Color Palette

Nothing I say can do justice to the wonder of God’s creation in living color. I am so thankful He loves us enough to surround us with such beauty during each season!

Thankful for Bloggy Friends

SoThankfulForYou…..

Compared to most bloggers, I am still a relative newbie. I started this blog a little over two years ago, and although I’ve had to take breaks from blogging every so often, I’m thankful to still be here. More than that, I am so thankful for my bloggy friends who have encouraged and lifted me up in prayer when I needed it most. Sometimes the encourager needs to be encouraged too!

THANK YOU for your faithfulness in hanging around to read what God gives me to share with you! I believe with all my heart that I am here only because of Him, and that He has some kind of plan for my writing.

My heart overflows with a good theme;

I address my verses to the King;

my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Thankful for my Home

Psalm 118_24_Fall-ThisIsTheDay

Rick and I absolutely love where we live in northern Arizona. Although I do miss the vivid autumn oranges and reds of where I grew up in New England, I have lived in several states in my adult life and I have to say that this area amid the mountains and hills is my second favorite place.

Arizona has more than its share of sunshine and gorgeous sunsets, and we totally appreciate both. Neither of us are big-city people so living in a rural area such as this fits us well, and I love the fact that we’re not that far from my children who live in the Phoenix area.

Rick and I are very thankful to God for moving us here. In spite of some setbacks that might have tested our faith if we hadn’t fully trusted God, we’ve been living here for 9 years. You can read more here about that story.

This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, I extol You.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

—Psalm 118:24, 28-29

Thankful for Friends

thankful-we-are-friends…..

I am so blessed and thankful for my close friends who know me so well and love me anyway. You know who you are!

Most of them live near me and I consider them as my local “family.” I also have a  friend who lives all the way across the country in Maine and we have yet to meet in person, yet our online friendship is so sweet. Then there is that special lady who once lived near me, moved halfway across the country, and then moved back several years later. Although we now live about 130 miles apart, we love it that when we get together, we pick up our conversation just as if we lived next door to each other.

What would we do without the blessing of our close friends?
