It is no surprise that the reality of life here on earth means we won’t be gliding effortlessly through our days. In fact, there is so much to discourage us. Sickness and diseases. Family problems. Tension at work, including job (in)security. What if we have lost our job and are having trouble finding another one?
Beloved, we can find many Bible verses that can help calm and soothe us when we’re hurting. The ones I’ve listed below are only a few I am appreciating right now. My prayer for all of us is that by clinging to these verses we will always turn to the One who can help us through these tough times: Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
Joshua 1:9 NKJV— Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 9:10 NKJV— And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 34:17-18 NKJV—The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
John 16:33 NKJV—These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Romans 5:3-4 NKJV— And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Romans 8:28 NKJV— And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:35-39 NKJV—
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 4:8-10 NKJV—We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NKJV—
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
James 1:12 NKJV—Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
