Rest for the weary

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

—Matthew 11:28-30, NASB

You will find #rest

I’ve been in a fibromyalgia flare for over a week and it doesn’t seem to be letting up. In fact, the mental confusion that is often part of these flares seems to be taking over. Tasks that should take a few minutes feel like they are lasting hours.

This passage in Matthew is so comforting to me. I HOPE it brings peace to you as well, no matter what you’re going through right now.

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

—Matthew 11:28-30, NASB

Need rest?

SATURDAY PRAISES

Rest. It’s something we all long for but often can’t find. But what exactly is rest?

Let’s start by defining what rest is not:

agitation
anxiety
confusion
discontent
discord
moodiness
turmoil
trouble
uneasiness
upset
worry

And this is only a partial list!

And here’s what rest is:

relief (from worries and troubles)
repose
solitude
tranquility
mental or spiritual calm
take a break

We’ll continue this discussion next week but let me ask you an important question, Beloved:

which list are you on right now?
