This cannot be posted often enough (reblogged from Isaiah 53:5 Project)

This is from The Isaiah 53:5 Project blog and is too good not to share with you!

This cannot be posted often enough

I have posted this before but it’s an important message and sharing it is the sole reason this blog exists so…

How Can you become a Christian?

Realize Who God Is

It all starts with a realization of Who God is. The Bible says He is the creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1) and creator of man (Colossians 1:16). God is holy (1 Peter 1:16), righteous (Psalm 145:17), perfect (Matthew 5:48) and is the judge (Romans 2:16) of all mankind. He is all-powerful (Luke 18:27), all-knowing (Psalm 139:2-6), and is everywhere (Job 28:24). God is eternal (Psalm 90:2), infinite (Psalm 102:25-27), and unchanging (Hebrews 13:8). He is sovereign (Romans 8:28-30), good (Psalm 25:8), merciful (Daniel 9:9), and gracious (Psalm 103:8). Understanding these attributes helps build a proper foundation to our need for Him.

Realize That You Are A Sinner

To become a Christian, you must realize that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and that your sin is rebellion against God (Psalm 51:4). Think about every time you have lied, stolen, lusted after someone, hated someone, disobeyed your parents or used God’s name disrespectfully. You will never be good enough to enter Heaven on your own merit (Ephesians 2:8-9) because committing even one sin deserves judgment (Revelation 20:12) according to God’s law (James 2:10). No amount of good deeds can ever erase your sin.

The Writing Life

Ps45-1--coffee and Bible

 My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my verses to the King;

my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

—Psalm 45:1

 Over the past few of weeks I have been doing background work on a new teaching devotional series. This week I need to focus on writing the first piece of the series, so I’ve prepared and scheduled a few posts to keep you busy while I’m otherwise engaged.

There will be lots of coffee and Bible time this week, both of which always serve me well! And yes, I am being purposely vague about the topic of this upcoming series because I want to surprise you. I hope you like surprises as much as I do!

Thankful for Bloggy Friends

SoThankfulForYou…..

Compared to most bloggers, I am still a relative newbie. I started this blog a little over two years ago, and although I’ve had to take breaks from blogging every so often, I’m thankful to still be here. More than that, I am so thankful for my bloggy friends who have encouraged and lifted me up in prayer when I needed it most. Sometimes the encourager needs to be encouraged too!

THANK YOU for your faithfulness in hanging around to read what God gives me to share with you! I believe with all my heart that I am here only because of Him, and that He has some kind of plan for my writing.

My heart overflows with a good theme;

I address my verses to the King;

my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

—Psalm 45:1

Difficulty Praying?

Well, friends, I think I charged back into blogging a couple of weeks ago too quickly so I’ve been paying the price since. Seems that’s what I do a lot these days!

STOP-YouReallyGottaStop

This has been the worst summer in my life, and that began early in the spring. The heavy monsoon activity we experience up here in northern Arizona really gets my nauseous migraines going, and that means I can’t do much. In an effort to better monitor my activity level, I think I need to scale back for another month or so and only post once or twice a week. Please forgive me if I don’t reply to your comments here or as quickly as I normally do. I so appreciate all your comments and prayers!

I admit that at times when my pain plus nausea levels are seemingly out of sight, I struggle with how to pray. And then I remember Romans 8:26-27:

In the same way, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

And let’s not ever forget Verse 28:

GodWorksForTheGood--Rom8-28

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

I am so thankful for that! The Holy Spirit not only knows my heart and intercedes “with groanings” for me when I can’t find the words through the pain, but God also “causes all things to work together … to those who are called according to His purpose.”

How amazing and awesome is that?

Here’s a wonderful quote from Oswald Chambers that is good for all of us to remember and hold close during difficult times.

Take a Break – Part 2

I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks but I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. Without going into a lot of detail, I’ve been sidelined in a major way by a flareup of my CFIDS in addition to the extremely nauseous migraines that are part and parcel of my monsoon summers.

You know how life just kind of happens? Well, this summer has served to knock me for a loop, to the point where I’ve been sleeping a lot.

I’m sorry I haven’t answered your comments on my blog but you don’t know how blessed I have been knowing that you have taken the time to visit here and leave me a sweet note.

This summer has not been very easy on me but God is still in control and my one true Hope… as He is yours, Beloved. Here is my prayer for all of us:

Rom15-13

As I said last time: Stay tuned, Beloved … I’ll be back before you know it!

Take a Break!

I will—no, I need—to take a break from blogging for a week or two. Life has been happening for me a lot here lately and that will continue this week as I am blessed with visits from both of my children. I am so looking forward to spending some time with these two wonderful people! I often wonder how they turned out so great, because I made so many mistakes while they were growing up.

Anyway, there comes the time when I need to just cut back on my activities for awhile, so after they leave I’ll need some quiet time to just be. Please keep me in prayer as I rest as much as possible and try to cope with the daily monsoon activity which is heaping loads of migraine nausea on me.

Matthew 11.28

Stay tuned, Beloved … I’ll be back before you know it!

Excited…thankful…humbled by awards

I have been so blessed by all my bloggy friends and today I want to share with you several blog awards I recently received:

These awards are such fun to receive and share with you!

I need to thank Ginger from Daily Life with Fibromyalgia and Peter from PJ Grace Community: Identifying Evidences of God’s Grace .

THANK YOU BOTH!

Peter nominated me for the Lovely Blog Award, the Shine On Award, and the Very Versatile Blogger Award.

Interestingly, both Ginger and Peter nominated me for the Blog of the Year 2012 award so I get to display the image that includes 2 brightly shining stars. [See explanation of this below.]

Peter, I know I am supposed to share 7 things about myself here, but I’ll save that for a few future Tidbit Tuesdays. I only have so much energy these days, and most people would probably be able to just dash off this post quickly, but it literally takes me hours to prepare, compose and schedule this kind of post.

Ginger, I am following your ‘rules’ for the Blog of the Year 2012 because it basically only entails my copying from your post where you listed your nominees. Now that I can manage, so here it is!

6 stars image

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Celebrate With Me!

One year ago today I started This Thing Called Life. I have had web sites and blogs before but apparently this one is what the Lord had in mind for me all along. You know how it is. Sometimes it takes awhile until we “get it.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about my tag line: while you’re here you might as well dance. My two bum knees have kept me from dancing for a long, long time so I’m not sure why I decided on that particular phrase. So I’ll be rethinking that in the coming year. I also want to work up the perfect mission statement for this blog and for me personally.

.

Thank you so much for spending time with me as I share my heart with all of you. It’s been a huge privilege and blessing for me and I look forward to seeing what the Lord has planned for me here during the next year!

Blessings to all of you!
